When do sign-ups close?

11:59 AEST, Sunday 28th of April

Can I sign up late?

Yes, but you won't be eligible for qualification into the SXSW Sydney final, instead it'll be for social participation

Is there a prize for winning?

Being Crowned the inaugural Acer Predator League Academy Champions at South by South West will see the team take home a Trophy to recognise their significant achievements.

What devices can play Fortnite?

Most gaming consoles can play Fortnite, if you’re looking to see your laptop or PC can play fortnite please find the minimum requirements and the recommended requirements below.

When will games be held?

5pm AEST on Tuesdays, schedule conflicts can be co-ordinated with the opposing team captain if necessary.

How much time will be required per week?

Students will be required for approximately 90 minutes.

Will we be playing Fortnite: Battle Royal?

No, these are custom maps designed for small group play and encourage team work.

Where is the competition ruleset?

Competition ruleset will be published soon – keep an eye on this page, your emails and the discord for further info!

Where is the live final?

South by South West Sydney.

Will travel be covered for the live final?

In order to participate in the live final students and teachers must make their own way to the event. Assistance in planning an itinerary will be provided.

What does the school need to provide so each student has the capability to participate?

The school needs to provide the details of 4 students and written permission/sign-off from a teacher or staff member at the school.

Can my school enter more than one team?

Yes of course! But students may only participate in one team per week.

Will students be competing from home or school?

If your school has the opportunity to play on school grounds we would encourage it, however we know not every school has the ability to do so. Teams can choose to compete at school or at home.

Is Fortnite a game that is safe to play at school?

Fortnite is rated M in Australia and T for Teen internationally. Fortnite has policies in place to ensure it is a safe place for young adults. Fortnite compared to other games does not feature blood or grotesque violence. Fortnite has partnerships with the likes of Disney, Lego and Nike who have deemed it appropriate for them.

What happens on game day?

Students and teachers will be present 15 minutes prior to games starting and organise their relevant lobbies. Main communications will happen via discord, please join the discord if you haven't already

What happens on discord?

Discord is the main communication platform between the league, teachers and students. Discord will be where results are posted and on the day communications will take place.

Students

I don’t have a teacher for my school

You will need a teachers permission to sign-up, you’re representing your school so it requires a staff member with-in the school to have oversight of the competition.

My teacher has questions about the competition who can they contact?

They can join the “Acer Predator League Academy” discord or contact APLA@livewire.group

Teachers

How can I get in touch with the league?

Message an administrator on the “Acer Predator League Academy” discord or email APLA@livewire.group

What am I responsible for?

You will be the main contact point for the event on behalf of the school. You will also assist in ensuring players are on-time, assistance in mediation where required and ensuring your students behave in an appropriate manner.

How much work is required?

You would need to occasionally check your emails and discord messages through out the week. You don’t need to attend your students games but it is recommended that you are ‘on call’ during this time.

What do I do if my team is sick?

Substitutes are allowed, alternatively please provide notice to administrators and the other team to try and re-schedule the game during the week.
